Digital Daruma, LLC, an active VC, enables start-up digital music companies and musicians globally to successfully navigate the enormous opportunities that are available in the emerging ecosystem of digital music through early-stage "angel" investments.
I meet with entrepreneurs and perform due diligence, modeling, and financial analysis. I also review and analyze term sheets, assist with deal execution and special event production, and work with and advise portfolio companies on ad-hoc projects.
Section 101 is a NY SaaS startup that provides a fully integrated website building platform for the entertainment industry. As Director of Strategic Project Management and Business Operations, I worked across departments to define and manage product, operational, and strategic initiatives.
My role centered on managing the SaaS product, corporate strategy and strategic projects, and general operations. I prepared the company for scale, including defining product roadmaps and managing the product development cycle, building the customer support infrastructure, designing internal customer dashboards, and planning the referral program.
I also created company-wide business and client focused management reports, and managed internal technical and operational infrastructure.
Recipient: University of Rochester 2012 Entrepreneurship Award, given in recognition of transforming ideas into successful and sustainable ventures.
The primary purpose of my fellowship was to create various avenues for students to study the music business.
First, I designed a unique curriculum integrating business, music, and technology, and advised the Music Department Chair on its implementation into the formal curriculum.
In addition to the academic avenue, I wanted students to have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the music industry. To achieve this, I founded a non-profit concert production group, Roc Thursdays, which you can read about more on my "Projects" page. To allow students to discover these opportunities as well as other students with shared interests, I founded URMusicNetwork.org.
I created, designed, programmed, launched, and marketed URMusicNetwork.org, a web-based social network targeted to university music community enabling real-world connections based on common interests. I A/B tested features in a closed beta and analyzed the data to aid in product development.
As a marketing intern, I not only analyzed sales and radio data but also created new statistical metrics to ascertain effectiveness of marketing strategies. I compiled comprehensive artist reviews and sales and radio updates for all artists under four product managers, and worked with those product managers to complete internal and external deliverables for various projects.
